One buckle is the wearable one
A single monk is open-laced in spirit: the strap crosses the instep once, the buckle sits on the outside, the toe can be plain or a light almond. It reads as a derby with better manners. With what trousers
Single monk: navy or charcoal trousers, chinos, dark jeans with a break. No white athletic sock. A dark trouser sock or a no-show only with cropped trousers you already wear that way.
