EDT vs EDP

Same name, different dilution, sometimes a different formula. EDP is usually louder and longer. EDT is usually cheaper and airier.

EDT vs EDP — still life for this Beauty guide on Nonchallant

Same name, not always same formula

Sometimes EDT is a lighter clone of the EDP. Sometimes the house rewrote the top notes. If you loved a 2014 EDT, a 2026 EDP may be a cousin. Test on skin, not on a paper strip you sniffed in a mall blast of ten other scents.

Price: EDP is often 20–40% more for the same millilitres. You also spray less. Do the maths with your actual spray count.

Where each wins

EDT: commuting heat, gym-adjacent days, citrus and aquatics. EDP: woods, ambers, cold air, evening. If you only buy one, EDP of a scent you already know.

  • Office: EDT, or a quiet EDP, 1–2 sprays
  • Night: EDP, still not a cloud
  • Sport: neither on a teammate’s air supply

Longevity is also skin and weather

Dry skin eats perfume. A bit of unscented moisturizer first helps more than jumping concentration — make it last. Heat lifts top notes and kills them faster. Do not judge an EDT in a sauna and an EDP in a cellar as a fair fight.

Questions, answered

Can I wear EDT at night?
Yes. Spray a little more or pick a richer EDT. The letters are not a dress code.
Why does my EDP smell sweeter?
They reformulated, or the extra oil emphasises base notes. Not you ‘going crazy.’
Is parfum worth it if I like the EDP?
Sample first. Parfum can be a different, thicker object. Love the EDP? Buy the EDP.
