How to Do a Five-Minute Eye
Cream on the lid, one mascara, brows already done. Liner is optional and often the thing that blows the clock.

The lid does not need a palette
A cream that is close to your skin or a touch warmer is enough. Blend into the crease with a finger until there is no edge. Shimmer is optional and dates faster than a matte cream. Powder shadow needs a brush and a steady minute you may not have.
If the lid is oily, a tap of powder or a bit of concealer set on the lid stops creasing. Not a five-colour cut crease.
Lashes and the rest of the minute
Wipe the wand. Top lashes only for daytime. Brown if black shouts. Curl if you like; a cheap metal curler is fine if the pads are not perished.

When five minutes becomes twelve
You added a wing, a lower-lash mascara, a highlight, and a do-over. Put the pencil down. A defined brow and a clean lash read as ‘done’ from conversation distance. That is the distance that matters.

- Do I need eyeshadow primer?
- Only if cream always creases by 11am. A set lid is cheaper than a new primer addiction.
- Lower lashes?
- Skip in the five-minute version. They smudge on dry undereyes and on oily ones.
- What if I have hooded lids?
- Keep the cream on the visible lid when the eye is open. Do not draw a crease you cannot see.
