How to Stop Lipstick Feathering
Feathering is product plus lines plus oil. A liner, a drier formula, and less gloss at the edge beat a $40 ‘anti-feather’ claim.

The physics is a trench
Vertical lines at the lip edge are trenches. Fluid lipstick finds them. Gloss is extra fluid. Super-matte liquid lip can still migrate if the edge is oily from balm. You want a defined edge and a formula that sets.
Filling the line with concealer around the mouth, then powder, then liner, is the long version. Liner plus blot is the weekday version.
Formula ladder
Balm stain: least feather, least drama. Satin: the usual. Gloss: keep it in the centre. Liquid matte: long wear, harsher on dry lips. If a formula feathers every time, that is the formula, not your mouth failing.

Skin around the mouth
A retinoid that peels the lip border will make every lipstick look worse. Ease the active off that 3mm, balm by day, then try colour. Feathering is not a reason to buy a sixth liner colour if the barrier is stripped.

- A dry, close-matching liner matters more than the price. Waxy cheap liners can actually block better than a slippery luxury one.
