How Often Should You Wash Towels?
Bath towel every 3–4 uses. Hand towel every 1–2 days. Kitchen towel daily if it wiped meat. 40–60C, no softener. A second set is the system.

Bath, hand, kitchen: three clocks
A bath towel that dries fully on a bar between showers can go three or four uses. If you hang it folded over itself in a 1.5 m² bathroom with no extraction, wash every two uses or you are training mildew. A 70 × 140 cm towel at 400–500 GSM dries faster than a 700 GSM spa brick; that is why the lighter one can stretch the interval.
Hand towels at 50 × 90 cm take more traffic and more face. Daily in a shared house, every two days if you live alone and you are not using them as flannels. Guest towels: one use, then the wash, or they are props.

Damp is the enemy, not a missed Wednesday

- Is it unsanitary to use a bath towel more than once?
- No, if it dries. Your own skin, a dry towel, three showers: that is normal. A wet towel in a closed heap is the unsanitary version.
- Should I wash towels with sheets?
- You can if the load still tumbles and both want 40C. A drum stuffed with 600 GSM towels and a duvet cover will not rinse. Towels-only is cleaner engineering.
- What about gym towels?
- Every use. They go in a bag damp. Wash the same night at 40–60C. Under 400 GSM is correct for that job.
