How to Stop Static in Clothes (Humidity, Not More Dryer Sheets)
Static is dry air plus synthetics. A humid room and a decent dry beat a life of dryer-sheet perfume. More sheets is not more physics.

Dry air is the machine
Heated winter rooms sit at 20–30% humidity. Synthetics trade electrons and then stick to your tights. Cotton in the same room is less dramatic. A bowl of water on a radiator is folk; a small humidifier is a tool. You want the room less desert, not a new laundry religion.
What dryer sheets actually do
They deposit lubricant and fragrance so fibers slide. That reduces static a bit and also coats sport knits and towels. Wool balls separate clothes and shorten dry time slightly without the film. If you already skip softener on activewear, do not reintroduce it as a sheet.
On the body, this morning
Mist the lining. Wear a leather-soled shoe on a carpet if you like theatre. A metal object touched to a door handle first. Lotion on legs under a poly skirt. None of this replaces humidity in January.

- It will perfume the car. Touch metal. The laundry problem is still your apartment’s air.
- Silk and wool static too?
- Less than polyester, more when over-dried. Do not tumble them. Hang. A light mist if a lining clings.
- Is there a detergent for static?
- Correct dose, full rinse, no extra softener. Residue makes cling worse. The bottle that says “anti-static” is usually softener in a different hat.
