At home: separation is the whole method

Two 1.5 mm cables of the same length will marry in a drawer. Mix a box chain with a cable if they must share a hook, and keep lengths 2 inches apart — the same rule as layering on the neck. Hooks 25 mm apart on a stand. Rings in slots, not in a bowl with chains. Earrings on a card or a 8 mm bar, not loose with a curb chain that will eat a latch.

A jewelry dish next to the sink is for the 2 minutes you wash your hands, not for storage. Wet clasps in a closed dish is how 14/20 filled jewelry meets leftover soap and you blame the maker.

Travel: straw, bags, one roll

Straw method: cheap plastic straw, chain dropped through, clasp shut. The straw is a 6 mm spine the links cannot braid around. Then one bag per straw. Hard travel cases with 12 compartments are useful if you actually use 12 compartments; most people dump five chains in slot one. A wrap roll with sewn 80 mm channels works if you clip each clasp to its own ribbon.

If a 14k box chain is creased, that is a $40–$80 jeweler pass, not a home straightening. Retire 0.8 mm plated chains that kink once — they will kink forever.
