The handle darkens where the hand sits. The underside stays pale. Piping picks up sun on one side of a windowed commute. That two-tone is normal. Fighting it with a brown cream is how you get a stripe that is darker than either.
If the goal is even honey, darken the whole piece slowly. If the goal is stay-pale, you are on the care page, not this one, and you will still lose eventually.
Methods, from safest to regrettable
Sun: an hour of indirect light, rotate, stop. Direct noon sun can dry and crack. Heat guns are how you brand a handle.
Wear: skin oils are the factory method. Bare hands darken faster than gloves.

What not to copy from forums
Coffee, tea, and balsamic are stains, not tanning. Mink oil is for work boots. Saddle soap strips. Finished-calf conditioner from a pebbled or smooth kit sits on vachetta or blotches it.
If a restorer offers to even vachetta for $60–$120, that can be rational on a bag you will keep. Home heroics on a $2,000 handle are how you pay them more later. Stuff and store after any wet work so the handle does not dry flat.
