Yes if the price is 40–70% of current retail, the authentication is independent, and you wanted that object. No if the discount is a fairy tale.

Price first, romance second
Look up sold listings, not asking prices. A current tote at 20% off “new” from an unvetted seller is the wrong kind of bargain. A 10-year-old workhorse at 50% of today’s retail with honest corner wear can be rational. Restoration (handles, edge paint) is $80–$250; subtract that from the deal.
Genuine leather on a preloved listing is still a low grade. The logo does not upgrade a split. Saffiano pieces need a pattern check — real saffiano — because the hatch is easy to print.
Wear that is honest versus wear that is a warning
Corner rub on a daily tote is honest. Green oxidation on hardware that should be gold-tone, a melting heat stamp, and a zipper that is the wrong gauge are warnings.

Where to buy, and when not to
Reputable resale platforms with in-house auth are a better starting point than a stranger’s DMs. They are not infallible; photograph on arrival. Pay for a second auth on anything over a few hundred dollars if you are not fluent in that house.
If what you needed was a work bag, a preloved logo that does not close is still a worse object than a current no-name that zips. Preloved is for the specific object. It is not a personality.

- Vintage can be better hide and worse glue. Linings dry. Pay for condition, not for the word vintage.
- Should I buy preloved as an investment?
- Most bags are not assets. A few models hold. Buy something you will carry. Speculators already priced the trophy SKUs.
- What if auth comes back fake after I paid?
- Use a platform with a return path. Private sales: escrow or a written condition. If there is no path, the discount is the risk fee.
